Are you praying to the Stumble Gods?

    By dana | September 21, 2007

If you hadn’t noticed, I have become completely obsessed with StumbleUpon in the last 2 months. I think it was about 5 weeks ago when I officially drank the Stumble Kool-Aid. My life since then has been a wonderful blur of thumbs, reviews and fan counts. It has felt a bit like a religious experience of some sort.

I thought it was just me though. That is until I read a post over at muhammed.saleem this evening that made me a true believer.

“i have to admit, i didn’t know such a thing existed but it seems that i have been approved as an up and coming stumble god

I feel a bit like a kid hearing about Santa for the first time…see guys, they really do exist! And even better, they have a Stumble Gods blog where they are giving us mere Stumble followers the Stumble doctrine (tips and advice) to help us become one with the Stumble!

Though the key to any followable deities is mystery…the SU Gods do give us a few insights into their beings. There are two of them. They appear to enjoy dogs, eco-friendly lifestyles and rhubarb…I can definitely hang with that!

So in that vain, here I give the following offerings to the SU Gods…

(For those who don’t know, the first is rhubarb. The second is my dog Dot as a puppy).

Note: I promise this is my last StumbleUpon related post for the month week next couple days.

Did you stumble on this?

Very interesting, Dana - am going through the blog now - seems like there could be some gems in helping us achieve stumble god status!

Your offering of rhubarb pleases the Stumble Gods greatly.

      :D

Thanks for the mention and the link. We just got the new blog up and running and we’re excited so many people are jazzed about reading about StumbleUpon. We’re shamelessly giddy SU fanbois and it’s good to know we’re not alone in the world.

      Rock on, happy stumbling.

      Shea (the “badboy” Stumble God)

      @YC I know it’s interesting isn’t it!

@Your Highness, Shea So glad to have pleased the SU Gods :) Just based on all the posts that I’ve been seeing (and writing) in the last few weeks, I think your new blog is destined for greatness!

@Chrisitne Thanks for the words of encouragement…so if I write another one today or tomorrow I will dedicate to (blame it on) you :)

Rofl StumbleUpon Gods! What a great idea for a blog!

In terms of the marketing concept I like it a lot; bestow playful praise upon a group of influential social media users who may just turn around and send a wave of traffic your way. I wish I had thought of that!

I’m going to have to sit through and read that sucker today. Good post Dana. Thanks for the comment on AjaxNinja earlier too :)

Thanks Aaron! I have a feeling the gods wouldn’t mind more publicity if others would like to worship via posts and links to their blog :)

I must say that I am sad that I’m no longer on the top stumbler list, I think that actually caused a larger deal of traffic to come to my site when I thumb up’ed it. After losing broadband for a month and a half I seemed to of lost my “high ranking”.

Actually, I just check and I’m back on the top list, imagine that.

Any ways, I’ve read quite a few of your blog posts and I have really enjoyed the site. I think I’ll bookmark it and check in from time to time.
