Confessions of A Twentysomething (want to be) Stumble Queen
By dana | October 9, 2007

In honor of passing my 4,000th thumb this week (and Lindsay Lohan graduating from rehab), I thought it the perfect time to come clean with my fellow stumblers. These are my StumbleUpon confessions.
- If I’m a little tired and questioning giving a thumbs up, I put great weight in who’s already stumbled it instead of taking a huge amount of time to really analyze the site, author and even the post. If I’m leaning towards a thumbs up and notice that Lyndoman or Muhammad have been there, done that…you’re probably getting a thumb.
- When in a blogging/stumbling frenzy if your site looks like something that could have been on a monitor in the movie War Games or resembles something I designed on my Commodore 64, I will not read it…no matter the content’s actual quality or value…when I’m on a roll, I’m a modern, pretty site snob.
- As much as I talk a good game about wanting quality, value-packed content while stumbling, every once in awhile I fall prey to an adorable kitten, random flash game or random hysterical street sign and throw a thumb up their way
- Though most of the time if I don’t answer while my “online” button is lit, it just means I’m working or stumbling and not paying attention to my inbox, sometimes I just don’t want to talk to you.
- Even though I know it probably means very little, I would still do just about anything to be called a “Top Stumbler.”
- Although I know it does not help my stumbling experience or that of others, I very rarely thumbs down a site. As much as I’d like to hide it, I am a bit too nice with an overactive conscience and belief in karma, and I just can’t bring myself to do it most of the time

I’ll email ya my StumbleUpon research results, Dana. They’re just too juicy to put here.

thumbs’d up, if that’s even a word

I really need to do some more stumbling myself, you’ll end up passing me up quite quickly in number of thumbs up you have given. Plus I’d like to raise my position on the Top Stumblers page, I don’t know why but I just don’t like being on the very bottom right.
Is it bad when I consider school, php, and sleep to have been getting in the way of my stumbling?

You’re well on your way to being a Stumble Queen. I rarely give a thumbs down either.

I’ll stay a SU soldier - because soldiers are the foundation of any community.

Wow Dang - I think you are addicted Dana, I can’t imagine me doing that much
How long did it take to do that?

You passed 4,000 already? Haha that’s amazing. You’ll be up there soon enough.

I SO want to call you a stumble whore. Ok, I just did
It’s meant with love Dana. I very rarely give a site thumbs down as well. Just because I don’t like it or find it useful, doesn’t mean that it sucks.

I’d like to know what it takes to be a top stumbler. I’ve stumbled through around 60,000 items, giving the thumbs up to 30,778 pages, 289 videos, 1,400 photo, and I have 270 fans and have received 65 reviews. I don’t think I’ve once found myself on the top stumblers page, even though people with only 1/10th of what I have stumbled, show up there daily, and I have used Stumbleupon on a daily basis now for just shy of 3 years.

Wow, a top stumbler. I’ve wondered what it took to get there

4,000, that’s awesome! I don’t usually thumbs down a site either. I only do so when I come across one that is extremely obnoxious, spammy, etc. Otherwise, I thumbs up or leave it alone.

Somebody tell me: Does it affect a website’s ‘reputation’ if one gives them a thumbs down? I am too nice to do that (just like most of you) even when the website sucks big time.
I joined SU only yesterday. ^^

I just go thru the toolbar and either thumbs up stuff or skip over it if I don’t like it.
