34 StumbleUpon Posts That Aren’t Crap
By dana | October 4, 2007

As you all know, I have a pretty bad StumbleUpon addiction. So naturally, I’m always interested in reading what others are saying about my buddy SU.
It’s no big secret that one of the best ways to grab a nice surge of SU traffic is to write a post about StumbleUpon or Stumblers. I can’t really denounce anyone for doing so (pot, kettle; kettle, pot), but I have started to get a little frustrated when wading through the vast ocean of Stumbly posts to find anything that has some value or gives some original SU insight, theories, tips or funnies.
It can literally take days to go through all the posts tagged StumbleUpon or search in any other manner. And forget stumbling “sites about StumbleUpon,” trust me you don’t want to go there
So for my fellow stumble junkies and even more so for all of you who have commented or contacted me about getting started with StumbleUpon, I thought I’d throw you a bone with the following 33 posts about StumbleUpon that are, in my opinion, not crap.

Note: I feel sure that there are a good number of other non-crappy posts out there. This list is just a compilation of those that I’ve found particularly interesting or useful and/or I think would be especially helpful for new Stumblers.
So if you had an SU post that isn’t on the list, it is most likely missing because:
- I somehow missed it.
- I felt it was already adequately covered by others in the list.
- I got tired after gathering together the first 34.
- I thought it was crap.
- I have a personal vendetta against you and thus refuse to link to you.
Which is it? I’ll let you decide for yourself.

Thank you for the crap-free link, Dana!
This is a good list and, together, will help the serious (addicted?) stumbler succeed with our favorite social media site.
I hope you are able to get outside once in awhile. By the way it is autumn, just in case your obsession has kept you from noticing.

Good list and well ordered. Although I’m thinking what could be even better with these types of lists is the date of the post.
October 4th, 2007 at 2:00 pm
@Matt Oh, is that what it is? I was thinking it was unseasonably mild for July in Kansas
@Lyndon You know, I hadn’t thought about that specifically, but I think you’re right. I specifically excluded some posts that discussed now obsolete SU stuff like the Audience numbers that I’ve read so much about, but the date would make that much easier.

lol@ all the bots on your mutual friends list in stumble.

Dana,
Nice post! I really liked the list and I too have become a little addicted to stumble, although I haven’t stumbled much in the last few days. I have been really busy with a new project. Any way nice post. I really like all your sites.
October 4th, 2007 at 2:56 pm
@Deb Huh?
@Joe Thanks. I think taking a few days off every once in awhile is probably a really good thing!
October 4th, 2007 at 3:45 pm

I will Stumble you IF I find those post helpful
I wonder that Deb is saying

October 4th, 2007 at 4:18 pm
Great list Dana! Thanks for putting it together. It’s most definitely worth a Stumble. And a Digg for that matter!
And I appreciate that you included my post in your Snickerworthy section. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!
October 4th, 2007 at 4:21 pm
@Edward Thanks! I actually stumbled upon your blog through SU. You’ve got some great stuff over there
October 4th, 2007 at 4:25 pm
Thanks, Dana.
I’m glad you thought my post about SU being a goldmine for writers was not crap. I try my best to keep posts crap free.
Funny thing is, I really started digging into SU to try to get more traffic for my blog. I’m glad I found a better use for it than that.
Thanks again,
Geoff

@Geoff We all try don’t we Geoff?!
I think a lot of people start stumbling with one purpose in mind and then realize all of the other benefits!

Hey Maki! Nope, I didn’t forget…I thought they were crap…Just kidding!
I was trying to cut down on including more than 2 links to any one blog mainly because I figured that if SU junkies could see which blogs were good references for SU stuff, they would explore…that said, I’m leaving your links in your comment up there. I know you’ve done a tremendous amount of work on your SU posts, as you do with all your awesome tutorials! So if anyone is reading this and doesn’t read DoshDosh everyday…go subscribe now

So can we officially call this, “crapless Friday”?
A list post is good. A list post about SU is a traffic magnet. Nicely done

“pot, kettle; kettle, pot” Nice. I laughed a bit at that.
Thumbs up from me on my stumble toolbar. Great post. There is a huge amount of ’stumble upon’ related posts with zero valuable info.
Another thing I despise is all the stumbled pages for stupid proxies. Egads.

Thanks. I am trying to be a better stumbler. I broke down today and stumbled some of my own stuff.I couldn’t help it. Ever since I started writing about Halloween it has been like a ghost town around here.
You are on my good idea list so I do remember to come by here and read more every so often. I thought it might be good to shout once.
